Eating what’s in season is better for your health, pocket book and the environment. Supporting small local farms is also better for the local economy. Just like any other small business, they’re more likely to give back to their community and it helps promote diversity within the community. Learn more about how to support the local food system and farmers.
Despite all the benefits of eating with the seasons, sometimes it’s difficult to apply the local foods to your daily life. It requires planning, trial and error and and learning.
To make it super easy to find out what’s in season for Oklahoma, I created a chart. This chart displays Oklahoma’s favorite kinds of vegetables, fruits and nuts available in Oklahoma and the months they’re in season.

Seasonal recipes
Blueberries are an Oklahoma summer favorite. We simple can’t get enough. One of our favorite recipes inspired by fresh blueberries is blueberry crumble.

- 4 cups blueberries
- 1 cup raw sugar
- 1 pinch salt
- 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup old fashioned rolled oats
- 1/2 cup butter
Ingredients

- Toss blueberries in ¼ cup flour and ½ c sugar.
- Place blueberry mixture in 9 x 9 baking dish.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- Cut butter into cubes. Add oats and remaining flour, sugar and salt.
- Work together with your hands until chunky. Pour over top of fruit.
- Bake until thick and bubbly, about 45 minutes.
